Fourth Economy is growing, not just in size, but in the kinds of questions we are being asked to help answer. Communities, organizations, and regions are navigating change that is faster, more complex, and more interconnected than it was even a few years ago. As our work has evolved, so has how we build teams to do it well.
The Advisor Bench is a natural next step.
The Advisor Bench is a group of trusted collaborators who work alongside our core team when their experience strengthens the work. These are people we know and trust. Many are partners we have worked with before, sometimes for years, across different projects, places, and roles. They bring depth in specific industries, systems, and communities, along with a perspective shaped by lived experience and long-term practice.
What we are doing now is naming something that has always been true about our work: the best strategies are rarely built by a single firm or a single point of view.
Advisors join our work in purposeful ways and often across multiple areas of practice. Some lead or co-lead specific workstreams. Others help shape strategy, guide engagement, strengthen implementation planning, or support evaluation and learning. All maintain independent practices and bring insight grounded in real-world conditions, not theory alone.
Advisors in this area help regions think clearly about where their economy is headed and how people, institutions, and industries can move forward together. The work spans economic development, innovation, emerging industries, business districts, and workforce pathways that connect education and training to real opportunity.
The focus here is on the everyday places where people live, work, and build community. Advisors bring experience across housing, neighborhood revitalization, health and well-being, cultural identity, and local infrastructure, with an emphasis on equitable development and long-term stability.
Advisors support communities as they plan for change, steward natural assets, and build resilience over time. The work connects climate action, environmental planning, sustainability, and clean energy with economic and community priorities.
Attention in this area is on the organizations and systems that make long-term progress possible. Advisors support strategy, governance, evaluation, and systems thinking across public agencies, nonprofits, and regional partnerships.
Across all four areas, alignment matters. Advisors are chosen not only for what they know, but for how they work: with care, curiosity, rigor, and respect for place. The Advisor Bench is built on trust, shared standards, and a belief that strong outcomes come from collaboration, not transactions.
Formalizing this bench allows Fourth Economy to grow with intention. It helps us match the right expertise to the right work, stay responsive as projects evolve, and remain accountable to the communities and institutions we serve.
In the coming months, we will continue to introduce the advisors who make up the Bench and share more about how their experience shows up in our work across the country. For now, we invite you to explore the Advisor Bench and learn more about the partners who help strengthen our work.
