Maya brings a passion for community-based economic development to her work and has developed a nuanced understanding of the built environment. She is adept at connecting a wide range of stakeholders to help them implement creative solutions within their local communities. Maya holds a Master of Arts in historic preservation planning from Cornell University and a certificate in business district executive management from Rutgers University. She was selected as the 2008 Fellow in Urban Design and Preservation by the American Planning Association.
Prior to joining Fourth Economy, Maya worked in nonprofit community development at the Lawrenceville Corporation and served as Pittsburgh’s first Nighttime Economy Manager. Maya developed her love of architecture early in her career as Associate Director of the American Institute of Architects’ Pittsburgh Chapter and as City Design Editor for NEXTpittsburgh.
