Pennsylvania’s outdoor industry provides vital contributions to statewide and local community and economic development. This is a direct result of conserved natural resources, assets and amenities like trails and parks, and the outdoor recreation that both locals and visitors engage in.

Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission engaged Fourth Economy and Firefly Outdoor to guide the creation of a statewide Outdoor Industry Alliance in Pennsylvania. The need for an organized industry association was identified in many partners’ outreach and research efforts, including DCNR, Pennsylvania Environmental Council, the State Outdoor Business Alliance Network, and Confluence of States.

The project will benefit the Commonwealth by building the capacity of Pennsylvania’s outdoor industry to be an effective advocate and state government partner for outdoor and recreation development.
