Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium Economic Impact Study

Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium

The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium,  located in the Highland Park neighborhood of Pittsburgh,  is an economic and cultural resource of the city, state, and region, drawing close to a million visitors a year, many of whom frequent other local establishments during their visit. With a new and exciting strategic plan and masterplan, the Zoo is well positioned for continued success and growth, and to further serve as an economic engine for the region.

Not only is the zoo seeking to understand its past and existing economic impact, the zoo is undertaking its largest and most immersive exhibit “Expedition Indonesia”. Additionally, a new 125,000 sf aquarium  is proposed to be built on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, which would further enhance the organization’s overall economic impact.

Fourth Economy is providing an economic impact study that captures the spending, employment, and tax contributions of the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, Expedition Indonesia, and the new proposed aquarium.
