MACOG Economic Resilience Plan

Michiana Area Council of Governments
Economic Resilience

MACOG is the regional planning organization for all of the communities inside Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, and St. Joseph Counties in Indiana. As the designated EDA Economic Development District for the region, MACOG is uniquely positioned to help guide and support local municipalities as they plan for future economic resilience in the face of macro challenges and local opportunities.

Our Approach

Fourth Economy reviewed and analyzed several recent community planning studies, conducted interviews with key stakeholders, and analyzed regional historical economic data and projections, in order to understand the current state of the region, existing visioning and opportunities that exist, and ongoing goals that communities are actively pursuing.

The Results

This plan will help the MACOG region attract Federal, State, and other pandemic recovery funding related to the priorities and strategies outlined in the plan, including: Main Street vibrancy, small business resilience, key infrastructure like broadband and childcare, regional workforce housing, marketing for talent attraction, and advancing the region’s industry modernization and supply chain efforts.

The plan was adopted by MACOG’s Policy Board in spring 2022.
