The Brashear Association
Based on the core belief that everyone deserves a fair shot, The Brashear Association provides South Pittsburgh residents and community groups with access to quality programs and services that address social, educational, health, and economic issues.
The Brashear Association has recently relocated to and constructed a new building in the Hilltop area of Pittsburgh. As the Brashear Association continues to grow, they partnered with Fourth Economy to create a new organizational strategic plan to set the course for the next three years.
Our Approach
The strategic plan and 12-month action plan involved identifying and clarifying the organization’s goals and desired outcomes, ensuring alignment with its mission and vision. A thorough analysis of internal and external factors led to the development of strategic initiatives that will guide Brashear’s growth, impact, and sustainability over the next three years. This included:
Evaluating current programs and services.
Conducting a demographic profile and market analysis.
Assessing the social determinants of health.
Analyzing staffing needs.
Addressing board governance.
Promoting community engagement.
Evaluating diversified funding streams.
Focusing on the requirements and opportunities related to ongoing capital projects, ensuring their alignment with Brashear’s overall strategic direction.
The Results
The resulting strategic plan sets a course to align internal capacity with community needs and existing service provision. The market analysis confirmed the need for a fresh food café/market in the service area and evaluated how this service could align with the existing food pantry and health support offered by Brashear.
