Interise Strategic Plan
Interise is a Boston-based non-profit whose growth and reputation has been built on their pioneering approach to second-stage business development.
Interise had spent 15 years honing and growing their StreetWise MBA program, which they licensed to organizations across the country, including the Small Business Administration. However, they realized that in order to increase their impact and better support low-income communities and women- and minority-owned businesses, they needed a different approach. Interise hired Fourth Economy Consulting to develop a strategic plan to launch their organization into the next phase of their growth.
Our team engaged stakeholders, board, and staff in a retreat and working groups to define new opportunities for the organization. These potential opportunities were vetted using market analysis and competitor research. We also developed and mapped criteria to help Interise understand where they had an opportunity to grow their existing program. Finally, we worked closely with leadership to develop a detailed plan and determine the staff, board, and funding needed to implement it. In addition, our team connected Interise with prospective board members, key organizations, and potential clients to help them expand their presence in the economic development world.
The final plan was unanimously adopted by the Interise Board of Directors, who described it as “inspired” and “thoughtful”.
